On August 25th, the classical music community celebrates one of its most influential figures. A man who represented the repertoire to the general public–through his music with iconic pieces like West Side Story; through his decades spent at the helm of some of the world’s greatest orchestras; and through his regular stints on the small screen, introducing a generation of young Americans to classical music.
The 2018 celebrations were as larger-than-life as Bernstein was himself: #Bernstein100 took the world by storm as orchestras and media outlets across the globe marked the centenary of this major figure’s birth. medici.tv had to join in too; in addition to streaming a curated selection of programs that explored the different facets of Bernstein’s influence, we also crafted a little quiz.
